From the Millennium BC to the 1st Century BC, Celtic tribes inhabited and spread over most of Europe. The aspect of their culture best known and most widely appreciated by us in the late 21st Century is their decorative art in all forms. Celtic crosses are widely known but symbolic patterns and representations of mythical creatures were also used to enrich buildings of wood and stone, weapons, jewelry and pottery. Whether as pure decoration or for its symbolism, Celtic art continues to grow in population and influence in the present-day.
